Don't Act Like You're Not Impressed
An interview with TNUC, the creator of this video:
You just did the new Futurecop! video for the song Karate Kids, what was your main idea/concept before starting the project?
Originally I was working on a video for the Futurecop! song “Gateaux Blaster” but once the “Karate Kids” track surfaced, the visions came pouring in and drenched over me like an awesome wave. So initially I wanted the video to basically be a combination of every dance scene/sequence from every 1980’s movie imaginable, but “Karate Kids” just demanded MORE!
I had a few flicks in mind from the first listen of the song, but the more and more I listened to the song movies were popping up in my head. Thats the thing about FUTURECOP! music, the first time I even heard their work all that kept entering my head was John Candy’s face and Michael J Fox’s denim jacket. Even though it seems EVERYONE in this scene is jumping on the 80’s nostalgia bandwagon, these guys make the kind of music that on first listen and not knowing about the band, I was scratching my head asking what is this from?!?!. It’s the ultimate montage music. Like the feeling you feel during the paramount, most extacy-filled moment of every 80’s movie. This is what I attempted to bring to life through these clips!
Can we expect any new TNUC videos in a near future?
YES. I’d like to do something post-apocalyptic. There were endless post-apocalyptic movies from that glorious decade that were just ultimate cheese, but fun! So many fist clenching/pumping scenes that would be great put to music. Stay tuned to the ol’ Myspace (myspace. com/drewlusk) for updates and look out for the TNUC blog. Should be getting wrapped up any day now.
